I went to Second Cup after school today, and found this letter written by someone who wanted it to be found and read by a stranger. I thought I'd post it here because it's interesting!
Dear Stranger,
My name is Angela. I’m 19 years and 45 days old, and I’d like to think I’m funnier than I really am. I left this note in the Second Cup at Bloor and Lippincott in hopes that someone would find it and read it… sort of like an anonymous letter. Actually, exactly like an anonymous letter.
So, in hopes of passing on my good feelings, I will attempt to explain what has led me to write this letter to you, whoever you are.
I feel like the world has been separated. Separated into tiny little bubbles of self-containment and introverted people. Like if someone were to come and talk to you on the street, would you talk back, or ignore them? I suppose that depends on what type of person you are, but many times have I witnessed people being shot down just because they are strangers. And when that happens, they will remain strangers.
I strike up conversations on the street with people sometimes, but maybe that’s because I am more obnoxious than the average teenage girl. I try to do so on the subway as well, but there is not one person who will listen. Their ears have been closed, plugged, shut and locked by earphones and headphones. I wish things were different.
So today I took off my earphones, stopped staring at the ground and didn’t check my cell phone every 10 seconds just as an excuse not to make eye contact. And you know what?………. it didn’t make a difference. BUT- I’m sure it will in the future. I am taking a step to re-socialize the crowded, rush hour world, because the world went silent when they invented the iPod.
Well stranger, that’s all I have to say for now. Maybe you felt enlightened by this, or maybe you just felt bored. Either way, I set out to make a point- to change even one person’s mind, and hopefully I did.
Pass on the message, burn the letter.
Sincerely,
Angela

The Weekend of Many Events
Well the title says it all, I suppose. I'll start from Friday morning, up until right now.
So I got to school at around 8am to decorate Emilie's locker for her birthday. Jessica and I put up tissue paper, ribbons, streamers, pictures and love. I didn't much enjoy the 'getting up early' aspect but the end result, and reaction, made it worth it.
I went through my morning (Peer tutoring grade 9 french, then my grade 12 french class) and left when lunch started.
We left for Ottawa at 12:30pm and arrived there at 6:30pm. This was for my cousin's wedding... at 7pm. We stayed at the Minto Suite hotel where all the rooms are suites! It was tres cool. So we got all dressed and fancied-up then went to the reception.
The next morning there was brunch, followed by a 4 1/2 hour drive home. I got to the Elmwood Spa without going home beforehand at about 4:50pm and my appointment was at 5pm.
When I got inside, Emilie and Jessica were waiting for me so we could get our manicures as part of Emilie's birthday present. We sat, chatted and gossiped while getting our nails beautified- it was classic.
Afterward, we went to the Holiday Inn where we would be staying that night. We ate pizza, cake and waited for friends to arrive and create a group before heading off to Nuit Blanche.
Our group consisted of: Emilie, Jessica, Mishi, Chloe, Dylan, Will and I. We left at about 8:30pm and ended up back at the hotel at 1am (I know, I know but we had a very tired body guard who needed to work the next day). When we were back at the hotel, we chatted, watched tv, then eventually fell asleep at 4am watching Bruno.
This morning we checked out at 12pm and had brunch- now I am home- with no one else around. My brother is in England, my sister is out for lunch, my mom is out shopping and my dad is at Home Depot. At least Amy is here to keep me company, although, I wish she would stop cleaning herself in front of me.
Anyway, I had a really awesome weekend and now I am just dreading picture day tomorrow as well as a lecture in Philosophy class that we have to take notes on. Hooray.
PS. It's my mom's birthday! Woohoo!
